Taking place every year in the main square of the ancient town of Bansko, a well-known Bulgarian winter ski resort, this international jazz festival has been branded “the music of the free people”.
The event was originally inspired by Dr Emil Iliev’s idea to transform this little town into a centre of significant cultural importance. Since the first festival in 1997, the number of participants and quality of performances has been steadily increasing.
In its first decade the festival has featured such talented Bulgarian bands and musicians as Dimitar Lyolev Quartet and the Big Band Blagoevgrad together with a great of international artists.
